Flying Start (includes three glider flights)
Experience gliding without a major commitment on your pocket or
time.
A typical Flying Start programme lasts about two hours
with three glider flights. Each flight is actually
a gliding lesson. It starts with a tow behind an aeroplane
up to 2500ft. Your instructor will be in control so
this is your chance to enjoy the view across to the
Isle of Wight on a good day, or look down on Basingstoke,
Alton and picturesque Hampshire villages. When the
tow is released you will have the opportunity to try
your hand at the controls, under your instructor's
expert supervision of course.
Each glider flight will typically last between 10 -
15 minutes.
The Flying Start is available seven days a week (please
book in advance).
If the 'Flying Start' leaves you hungry for more then,
subject to availability on the day, additional winch
or aerotow launches may be purchased at club rates.
You can, of course, come back and fly at club rates
at any time during your trial membership period.
Take a further option (other than another Flying Start
or Trial Membership) within one month and we'll reduce
the cost of that option by £20.
Join as a full flying member within your trial membership
period and there will be no entrance fee to pay.
The Flying Start costs just £155
Please Note
- No alcohol must be consumed before flight. Your instructor
will refuse to fly with you if he suspects you have been drinking.
- People under 18 years of age will require written consent of
a parent or guardian.
- If you are less than 7 stone (45kg) or more than 16 stone 4lb (103.5 kg
approx.), you may not be able to fly. Also very tall people, more than 6ft
4ins, will have difficulty fitting into the cockpit.
- The following conditions may cause difficulty while flying. Sufferers from
any of these are advised to obtain medical opinion. Bronchitis, asthma, sinus
disease, ear disease, defective vision (eg, inability to read a car number
plate at 25 metres - corrective glasses may be used), migraine, diabetes of
any form, kidney stones, psychiatric disorders, severe motion or travel sickness,
any condition requiring treatment with drugs of any kind. You are further
advised that:
- If you normally wear spectacles, you should always carry
a readily accessible spare pair.
- Minor illnesses, drugs and the donation of blood will probably
make you temporarily unfit to fly.
- Please read the Mandatory
Safety Notes a copy must be signed before flying
