This is a holiday with a real difference and a great way to start
gliding. You will join a small group of fledgling pilots with its
own instructor and glider.
Lasham believes that low numbers mean high achievement;
because of this we endeavour to limit the number of pupils per instructor
and glider to three. With this kind of concentrated instruction
you will really make progress towards your first solo.
Running Monday to Friday, the Five Day Course is available
from April to September and by special arrangement at other times.
A scale of charges reflects periods of highest demand.
Note: On some occasions the course is reduced to a four
day duration (with an appropriate reduction in cost). This
occurs when other planned events on the airfield would make training
impractical.
Your course fee includes three whole months' membership
of Lasham Gliding Society during which time you can make full use
of our extensive facilities including members' bar and restaurant
and, best of all, you can enjoy additional training flights at normal
member rates. We'll even give you a free Lasham sun hat and a gliding
log book in which to record your flights.
If you do not achieve our minimum of 20 winch launches
on a five day course, or 16 launches on a four day course, during
your course you will be given a refund. (One aerotow equals two
winch launches).
If you decide to join as a full member within 3 months
of taking your Five Day Course there will be no entrance fee to
pay.
Five day course prices and dates are on our
Prices
and Dates page.
Why
not extend your stay with us?
Lasham can make an excellent holiday base and you can enjoy additional
training flights at normal member rates.
Please Note
- No alcohol must be consumed before flight. Your instructor
will refuse to fly with you if he suspects you have been drinking.
- People under 18 years of age will require written consent of
a parent or guardian.
- If you are less than 7 stone (45kg) or more than 16 stone 4lb (103.5 kg
approx.), you may not be able to fly. Also very tall people, more than 6ft
4ins, will have difficulty fitting into the cockpit.
- The following conditions may cause difficulty while flying. Sufferers from
any of these are advised to obtain medical opinion. Bronchitis, asthma, sinus
disease, ear disease, defective vision (eg, inability to read a car number
plate at 25 metres - corrective glasses may be used), migraine, diabetes of
any form, kidney stones, psychiatric disorders, severe motion or travel sickness,
any condition requiring treatment with drugs of any kind. You are further
advised that:
- If you normally wear spectacles, you should always carry
a readily accessible spare pair.
- Minor illnesses, drugs and the donation of blood will probably
make you temporarily unfit to fly.
- Please read the Mandatory
Safety Notes
